All New Veja Style ~ The Dekkan

Since 2005, VEJA has been creating sneakers in a different way, mixing social projects, economic justice and ecological materials, all produced in high standard factories in Brazil. Using Brazilian and Peruvian organic cotton for the canvas and laces, Amazonian rubber for the soles and various innovative materials such as recycled plastic bottles, there are so many reasons to love Veja.

At long last the Veja SS22 is here.

Conceptualised by Sébastien Kopp and François-Ghislain Morillion in 2003, Veja has always been driven by ethical, transparent processes and production. Realising that most big sneaker brands spend up large on advertising, the pair decided to reallocate what would-be advertising resources to areas such as raw materials, production and the people involved in the process.

The outcome? Veja have created high quality, affordable sneakers that have a positive impact on both the environment and society at each stage of production.

The SS22 range offers the perfect mix of the older styles we all know and love with some new additions we think you're going to swoon over.

Influenced by VEJA’s running technology and Vibram’s know-how, the Dekkan is a collaboration of two sneaker heavyweights bringing together the best technology from each brand. You may recognise Vibram as the yellow label which features on the soles of many shoe brands. Founded in 1937, Vibram is the world leader in the development of high-performance rubber soles. For over 80 years, the yellow octagon that symbolises Vibram has been synonymous with quality, performance, safety and innovation in the footwear industry.

Using between 20 to 30% of Amazonian rubber in its soles, Veja had the immense challenge of combining their stable material with Vibram's technology. Co-developing a unique formulation using Amazonian rubber, GEB (Granulado Escuro Brasiliano) for the outsole and VEJA’s EVA sugarcane-based for the midsole and developed after several months of tests, VEJA and Vibram forged together the ultimate functional sole. The sole is a mix of ecological materials and Vibram’s world-leading technology.

This collaboration brings together the synergy of both teams under one polyvalent style made for walking long distances. The sole offers a good balance of grip, durability and abrasion resistance thanks to the GEB rubber, plus cushioning and energy return thanks to the E.V.A. The upper crafted by VEJA and made of Alveomesh, 100% recycled polyester, is framed with waterproof TPU sidewalls and rubber pieces at the front and heel to offer protection.
