Beginning in 1962 as Blue Ribbon Sports, a humble running shoe company based out of Beaverton Oregon. Founders Bill Bowerman and Philip Knight changed the name to Nike Inc in 1978. The company takes its name from the Greek Goddess of Victory. Nike sponsers many high profile athletes and sports teams around the world and has the highly recognisable trademarks of 'Just Do It' and the Swoosh logo.
