Founded by the late Hiroshi Baba—also the visionary behind Startnet in Mashiko, Tochigi Prefecture—the brand began as part of a creative space that functioned as a gallery, café, and retail hub, all centered around local artisanal works.
With seven decades of industry expertise, Organic Handloom focuses on the harmonious experience of wearing and walking. Their footwear emphasises understated beauty, crafted from natural materials that enhance comfort. Each pair reflects a time-honoured tradition of skilled workmanship, carried forward through generations.
Muskhane

It was on a mission to Kathmandu for Handicap International that Thierry and Valérie discovered Nepal and the Himalayan region. The couple decided to suggest a project to the association: they would carry out a study to equitable commerce in the Himalayan region. This led them into contact and dialogue with artisans of the valley of Kathmandu - some of whom were to become their suppliers. Together, with their desire to develop a stronger local economy and to celebrate the exceptional artisan craftwork of the region - Muskhane was created in 2003.
Muskhane creates felted items you never knew you needed. All products are handmade in the workshops in Kathmandu Valley and are composed entirely of natural, renewable materials. The working of these natural fibres is the special expertise of Nepalese artisans. The quality of the wool, the attention to detail and the care that goes into Muskhane products bring forth their line of unique and lovely objects.
