Since 2004, Veja has been making sneakers differently, infusing each stage of production with a positive impact.

    Reinventing the sneaker.

Conceptualised by Sébastien Kopp and François-Ghislain Morillion, Veja has been driven by ethical, transparent processes and production from the very beginning. The sneaker industry is notoriously unethical, but the founders of Veja have never accepted that it has to be this way. So back in 2004, they took it upon themselves to start from the ground up, taking production right back to scratch to do things differently.

20 years of innovation and relationship building.

Each material used in the production of Veja sneakers is ethically sourced, with fair trade being at the heart of all that Veja does. Raw materials such as amazonian rubber and organic cotton are sourced from Brazil, Peru, Germany, and Italy. They work directly with producers to ensure their business interaction only has positive impacts on the community.

Veja has a good head on its shoulders.

The heart of the VEJA model: reinject the amounts of investment normally allocated to advertising into the phase that comes before the assembly line. Eliminating ads, marketing costs, doing away with brand ambassadors, billboards, means Veja invests only in reality rather than fiction. It means working back up the production chain and investing in nature and community. It means spending more time on the ground, rather than investing in smoke and mirrors.
